On Wednesday 17 May 2017, Shoalhaven Beekeepers Association held its first meeting at Shoalhaven High School.
On the School's Facebook page was posted: "The members found the facility awesome, with the Agricultural plot being a great hit by the members. An excellent joint community scenario, with both parties benefiting. A big thanks to Mrs Mcneil and Mr Morrissey for making this happen. Plus a shout out to Mr Rakiposki for allowing this successful merging of two great institutes.🐝🐝"
A big thanks to the Committee members from SBKA who also made this possible. SBKA are also hoping that our new relationship with the school will prove to be of benefit to the school and our members. We will be setting up an apiary and much, much more. Keep an eye out for announcements over the coming months.
WANT BEES BUT DON'T HAVE THE ROOM? Updated 27.02.2018
PROPERTY OWNERS WANTING HIVES PLACED ON THEIR PROPERTIES
Shoalhaven Beekeepers Association has had requests from property owners for beekeepers to keep hives on their properties. All conditions and requests for payment or honey are to be negotiated between hive owners and property owners.
Jason requests: "I was interested in setting up some hives on my block in Beaumont. It's approximately 5 acres with a small wooded area at the back of the property and the whole block is currently vacant. I would also be happy to discuss funding some or all of the setup if there was a beekeeper interested.
I currently live in Sydney so am not be able to set things up myself but I am keen to assist when it's feasible and learn more about beekeeping by doing this. " Posted 27/02/2018
